This is the story of Tim Potter, a close friend of the former owner, now defunct, Paul Petrea ,The Living in Cebu Forums. Most members of this discussion board were expats, with Americans making up the majority.
Paul Petrea moved to the Philippines in the late 1990's. He had no professional skills and only basic schooling in Savannah, Georgia. He married a Filipina, and reports indicate he abused her. She and their baby narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation. You can find more details at the provided link.
He quickly saw that his friends were flocking together. He remarried a Filipina, but the immigration officials falsely claimed that the marriage was a ruse to use his "wife" as a dummy to conduct business. He was apprehended, sent to jail, and ultimately deported. Click here to read the story. But he managed to return a couple of years later. Thanks to a misunderstanding between the immigration and the prosecutor (who suppose to do what), he was deported but not blacklisted! He later created the "Living in Cebu Forums" to his image, that is attracting the crème de la crème of drunkards, pimps, bikini barfines, bar owners, and scammers. Starting in 2010, blogger Evan Iliadis began taking down this harmful site. It took him 8 years, with poor English syntax and grammar, but he succeeded. The forum is now closed for good. So, Now? Why am I reviving the story years later? During the blog's peak years, thousands of people from all over the world read it, but few Filipinos did. Is it more fun in the Philippines? Yes, it could be, if the government takes drastic measures to change the image of the country abroad and encourage family tourism, which is more lucrative than sex tourism, where only pimps and scammers make a profit. I have lived in the Philippines for many years, learning as I go along in my travels and throughout the country.
I currently live in Mindanao,

she doesn't care bare his name, she's so ashamed and she shows it. Here

Lie #2. No
one has bothered to ask him questions about the Philippines or post a

figured it out yet, the name Tim is just a moniker. It is an
acronym for The Invisible Man. Before deciding to start a website, I
researched people who had used their real names online. Then, people
like Evan Iliadis come along and attempt to exploit others’
honesty. He will never be able to do that to me, because he does not
realize who I am. I, however, know exactly who he is.

Reader, another rip-off on Paul Petrea's forum. Do you
have
enough? Tim Potter bought an advertising banner on his forum
allowing him to mislead the members. Tim Potter needs money
desperately.
Dont be a victim. Is not the first time I am writing on Tim potter scams.
In
an entry I posted a few months ago on another blog, frankly, I wasn't
suspected then the
magnitude of the scam and others' involvement, especially Matt Wilkie
who banned him from his forum (live in the philippines forum.com.) Both,
Matt and Tim came to the Philippines with dreams of making fortune
using the internet, betting their chances on Paul Petrea Forum known for
accepting and even encouraging scams. Paul Petrea is gone, managing
his forum from Cambodia under the status of a fugitive of the PH justice
department. Matt Wilkie also has left the building and is now in the Middle east surviving on OFW wages |

Tim Potter from Sugar Land, Texas, has never had the professional skills needed to find any job. His computer skills are far from sufficient to be hired in the IT industry anywhere in the world, not even enough to make him a reliable software pirate. Recently, he sold a few copies of counterfeit programs to the expatriate community in Cebu, Philippines, that do not work. He has done a little bit of everything; the only job title you can give him is handyman. As to the
statement he makes on his blog, which is this and in roz-colored letters
(What other color a sexpat would choose anyway?), take a look. "Zol
and I live in Cebu City, Philippines, and will soon travel to the USA and
live in Sugarland Texas. Living abroad for the last 5 years, there are a
few things I learned that will assist in your journey. With the internet
keeping in contact with loved ones and enjoying the fruits of your home
country are simpler. We will soon travel and are doing our Visa to head

Tim Potter can't help you with anything he has learned in his "journey" unless you plan to visit the Philippines as a sexpat, where he can show you how to keep a woman 30 years younger than you by lying about the paperwork and saying the "damn Philippines government takes 3 years to fix their mistakes".
But because he can't keep lying forever on the same basis, suddenly voila! The NSO finally did the job, now is the US embassy BSing with the visa! As of today, January 22, he stated that the NSO did not correct his marriage certificate date. He states on his blog that he's working on a visa. It looks like the first lie is now expired; the 2d one just began. The visa story.. Poor Zol..I doubt you will ever see America. And if you do, make sure you meet some Filipinas there to teach you how to get rid of the loser and find somebody else.
Update: March 2015.Tim Potter made it to the US thanks to a loophole in the Immigration requirements. Tim Potter's income of $1000 a month did not qualify him for a visa for his family to immigrate to the US. Someone offered to join his income to the affidavit of support, a legal process accepted by Immigration. Thanks to Evan ILIADIS and his many contributors, the Philippines got rid from Tim Potter, aka Timothy Potter, aka USMC retired. Tim Potter USMC retired from Sugarland Texas
